PENABRANCA
Name: Bruno Borges
Occupation: Visual Artist, Graphic Designer.
Aspiration? Tricky question. I don't usually paint a very defined picture of what my future will be. I try my best to live the present moment so that when looking back years from now I will have something to be proud of. Lately I have been dreaming of planting my own food.
Tell us something that not everyone knows about you? I really enjoy being on my own.
What Inspires you? The subtle, deep connection with the mystery of the cosmos that we all share, and the art of primitive humans, which emulates the language of that connection: Geometry.
Favorite albums to listen to when you’re working?
I listen to a lot of stuff while working- it depends mostly on my mood. I love old psych tunes, especially from 60's and 70's. One album that I always listen to is 'Tudo Foi Feito Pelo Sol', from Os Mutantes.
What do you like most about where you live?
Sao Paulo is very oppressive, gray, concreted and rushy. It acts like a cyclone that drags the talents from allover the country, but that makes the cultural life here incredibly rich. What I love most is its north coast. There are breath-taking small beaches where I hide myself from time to time.
Do you have any exciting projects in the works?
I've been working on several album covers that might be released next year. I'm also trying to learn tattooing. I'm a self taught musician and next year I may digitally release a full album of my music alias, Camel Heads (camelheads.bandcamp.com). Two EPs were released this year, both recorded at home, which are now out on a 12" LP via Captcha Records. They where originally released on tape by Department Tapes, in Mexico.
What is the most Significant Piece of Jewelry You Own and Why?
I only own one necklace- a feather pendant. I also have a feather tattoo on my forearm. Feathers remind me to be light.
